Septic System Size
One of the most misunderstood topics concerning the purchase of a home with a septic system centers around the question of what size system would be adequate to support a particular size of family. Many people think that it is the number of bathrooms in a home that define the size of the septic tank and the drain field. In fact it is the number of bedrooms that the home has that determines the size of system required. The rational for this is that bedrooms establish how many residents live in a home, not bathrooms. You could have five bedrooms in a home that has only two people for example and only a one (or possibly two) bedroom system would be required.
